Webb29 aug. 2012 · Here are the measurements I get from a current scatterwound toaster (as close as I can see and measure, anyway): 3 1/2" long. 1 3/8" wide. 1/2" high, from bottom of base plate to top of cover. 5/16" magnets extend below bottom of base plate. I had read they were higher gain, which is true but after looking int it, barely higher. 7.4 ohms for the toasters, and 8 for the high-gain. Modern pickups that are higher gain are 11 or 12, so I was incorrect. Like I said, I've never tried the high-gain, but I love the toasters. Thanks, Don.

That effectively makes the other end "hot". By swapping the two, you made the cover "hot" and basically turned the cover into an antenna.
